Newly built under the project name “METEOR IV”, this vessel will replace both the decommissioned research vessel POSEIDON and the current METEOR, which has been in service since 1986.
Commissioning is planned for late 2026. The vessel is a significantly enhanced successor to the research vessel SONNE, drawing on the design of the latter while incorporating the major technological advances of the past ten years.
