The GPF Office is happy to assist you with all questions concerning the review process for the allocation of ship time on German research vessels. We serve as the point of contact for researchers who wish to use the vessels, for the operating institutions, for reviewers and for funding bodies.
The GPF Office supports the (interner Link) in handling (interner Link) and (interner Link), organising the (interner Link) and ensuring meetings are prepared and documented. It does not influence the science-led evaluation and selection of cruise proposals.
The responsibilities of the GPF Office include the following:
- Carrying out a formal check of the cruise proposals and reports received;
- Organising review meetings, including dispatch of the proposal documents;
- Documenting review meetings and their outcomes;
- Informing applicants and operating institutions of the outcomes;
- Advising applicants, panel members and operating institutions;
- Ensuring the timely submission of cruise reports, reviewing these on a spot-check basis and having them published on PANGAEA / TIB;
- Organising the biennial Status Conference Research Vessels with the support of Project Management Jülich (PtJ);
- Maintaining the German Research Vessels Portal and the process-related documents (instructions and templates);
- Archiving of all relevant documents.
