POLARSTERN

With a length of 118 metres, a cruising speed of 10.5 knots, and a maximum endurance of 75 days, the POLARSTERN is one of the most powerful research vessels in operation today. Specifically designed for polar research, she is at home in the waters of the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans. The research vessel accommodates up to 50 scientists for research activities in the fields of biology, geology, geophysics, glaciology, chemistry, oceanography, and meteorology.
