Equipment

Large Equipment

In addition to the research vessels, marine science institutions in Germany operate a range of sophisticated large marine systems that may be used by scientists from other institutions in consultation with the operators. In order to calculate the costs arising from use of the equipment, the operators have established flat rate charges together with the German Research Foundation (DFG):

> Flat rate charges for the use of specific large equipment in marine research

Further information on how and to what extent these costs can be applied for in a cruise proposal is provided in the Cruise Proposal Preparation Instructions. Confirmation of the availability in principle of the respective large equipment must be accounted for when submitting a cruise proposal.
