Welcome to the online submission system for cruise proposals. Please register to the system first. Login details will be sent by e-mail to you. Please note that you have to register newly for each call for proposals. When you are applying for several proposals, you have to register with a new login each time. When you are re-submitting your revised proposal, you have to register with a new login as well.
After you received the login details, you can log-in on the subpage "proponent login". To submit a proposal to the system, you must fill in all elements within the submission system, including your profile (coordinator or project partner), project data, and a sketch of activities of the planned expedition. More detailed instructions on compiling research cruise proposals are provided in the guideline for ‘Cruise Proposal Preparation Instructions', Revision 1.0 (published July 2020), downloadable at the 'German Research Vessels Portal'. A 'factsheet' will be generated from all submitted information, documents, texts, and figures. The project coordinator can control all of the included elements. This factsheet is an integral part of the proposal and will be taken into account for the evaluation.
Cruise proposals may only be submitted via this portal. Other forms of submission will not be accepted.
The submission system is closed. Cruise proposals could be submitted until March 01, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
Suspension of the regular call for proposals for the research vessels SONNE, METEOR and MARIA S. MERIAN
Due to dynamic developments during the pandemic, there has been an important change for the submission of cruise proposals: For the research ships SONNE, METEOR and MARIA S. MERIAN, regular cruise proposals will no longer be accepted for submission by the current deadline of March 1, 2021. This also affects cruise proposals that have already been submitted. For these research ships, only cruise proposals that follow the guidelines of the pandemic-related additional call can be submitted.
Cruise proposals for the research ships POLARSTERN, HEINCKE, ALKOR and ELISABETH MANN BORGESE are NOT affected, and the regular call persists for these vessels.
Additional call for proposals for the research ships SONNE, METEOR and MARIA S. MERIAN in order to react to the pandemic
For the second half of 2021 and beginning of 2022, there is a clear risk that the research vessels will have to be operated from and to Germany. Even under these circumstances, research can be carried out to a certain extent on the research ships SONNE, METEOR and MARIA S. MERIAN. In this context, the GPF announces an additional call; exceptionally, cruise proposals can be submitted outside the usual submission deadlines. The cruise proposals have to meet the conditions listed below. The cruise proposals are evaluated in a fast track procedure by the GPF. A corresponding decision from the GPF can be expected by mid-May 2021. With the exception of RV SONNE, positively reviewed cruise proposals in the context of this additional call will remain in the cruise planning pool even if the travel restrictions are lifted. NOTE: RV SONNE operates outside its regular working areas, and due to this these cruise proposals cannot remain in the regular cruise planning pool.
The following conditions must be met:
Submitted cruise proposals that do not correspond to these criteria will be rebutted without further processing by GPF office. These proposal can be resubmitted in a later regular call.
