Cruise Planning

Cruise Planning

The operational planning of approved cruises for the different vessels is the responsibility of the ship operating institutions: the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in the Helmholtz Association for POLARSTERN and HEINCKE; the German Research Fleet Coordination Centre for METEOR, MARIA S. MERIAN and SONNE; the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel for ALKOR; and the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) for ELISABETH MANN BORGESE. It is also possible for operating times to be exchanged between the individual vessels in order to optimize operations.

Information for potential secondary users

The following table lists all cruise proposals recommended by GPF to be included in the cruise schedules, which could not be scheduled yet by the ship operating institutions. Based on this information, you can identify upcoming cruises that lead to an area relevant for your research. Please note that you have to inform the respective Chief Scientist prior to the submission of a cruise proposal for secondary use.
